Amad Shakur

Amad Shakur is Founder and Director for the Center for the African Diaspora, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Director of Development for the Museum of Muslim Cultures. He currently hosts the “Open Forum on American Muslims" on 360 Radio. Mr. Shakur was formerly Executive Director for the Shahan Institute, an Islamic research foundation and think tank, and former host of TVs “Islam In View”.
He is a graduate of the University of Barcelona, Spain; The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and attended the University at Qayrawan, Fez, Morocco. Mr. Shakur has a traveling exhibit on “The Spread of Islam in West Africa”, lectures on Islamic Spain, the history of Islam in North and West Africa, the African/Islamic and Atlantic slave trades, the African Diaspora, African American history, and Islamic social and cultural affairs.
